CJ Healy was in fine form for Oldcastle against Trim

Oldcastle edged out by Trim in a thriller

Two goals in the latter stages of the opening half boosted Trim and left Oldcastle with too much to do in this Corn na Boinne clash as the visitors lost out by 2-9 to 2-11.

With Jason Scully included Oldcastle started well with CJ Healy and Scully boosting them to an early lead. However Trim replied with a goal to retake the lead and flicked a second to the net before the break to lead by 2-5 to 0-6 at the interval.

When play resumed Oldcastle burst from the traps with Robbie Farrelly pointing before Scully blasted a brilliant goal. Paddy Rahill restored parity with a point, but again Trim upped the tempo and edged two clear.

Healy was on target to close the gap again, but again Trim clipped over four successive points to open up a five-point lead.

When Trim were reduced to 14 men late on it gave Oldcastle a boost. However, despite a fine goal from Healy with the last kick of the game they couldn't get any closer as the hosts held on for the narrow victory.
