Nobber prevail in north Meath goalfest

After eight months without football north Meath rivals Nobber and Ballinlough served up a veritable feast in the Corn na Boinne with the visitors six-point winning margin, 4-13 to 3-10, a harsh reflection on their hosts outstanding effort.

Renowned as been low-scoring, tense affairs, both sides let loose the horses and traded point after point before Tommy McCullen boosted Ballinlough to a three-point lead with a fine goal.

Jamie Casserly extended that lead with a fine score, but then Nobber assumed control and kicked five points in succession, with Sean Meade's excellent score the highlight, as they edged one clear.

Harry7 Ryan bagged a second goal for Ballinlough and he followed up with a point to ensure a 2-5 to 0-7 interval lead for his father's side.

Nobber restarted in blistering fashion, hitting 1-3 inside the first six minutes to lead by two. Benji Smith kept Ballinlough in touch, but another 1-2 salvo before the second water break put Nobber in control.

Goals from Ben Wiseman and Daragh Caffrey dragged Ballinlough back into the contest, but as time ran out Nobber bagged a third goal and then added a fourth from the penalty spot as Smith hit the crossbar for Ballinlough and their challenge faded.
