Unsettled weekend of weather ahead

Weather Update

Weather conditions as set to remain unsettled through the weekend and into next week with sunshine and showers, some heavy.

Mainly dry early this morning with patches of mist and fog. These will clear with sunny spells developing. Scattered showers today, heaviest in Leinster, Ulster and east Connacht. Risk of thunderstorms in Ulster.

Rain will develop in the southwest in the late afternoon and spread over Munster this evening. Highest temperatures 11 to 15 degrees with light breezes.

Tonight rain will continue to spread northwards and will affect most areas overnight. Showers will follow into west Munster by morning. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 7 degrees with light to moderate easterly breezes.

On Saturday morning there'll be further outbreaks of rain over the northern half of the country. Sunshine and showers in Munster, will extend northwards and become widespread in the afternoon, heaviest over the southern half of the country, some thundery or of hail. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees with light breezes.

On Saturday night, showers will mostly die out. There'll be some clear spells over he northern half of the country. It will be cloudier further south with some rain or drizzle near south and southeast coasts. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees with mostly light northeast breezes.

Sunday will bring sunny spells a scattered showers, becoming widespread during the afternoon, some heavy or thundery. Highest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees with light to moderate northerly breezes. On Sunday night, showers will mostly die out. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 7 degrees.

Sunny spells and showers again are forecast for Monday. They will be most frequent and heaviest through the afternoon and early evening. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees with moderate westerly winds.

Tuesday will bring further showers, with longer spells of rain at times over Ulster. Highest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees with moderate westerly winds.

Further outlook: There'll be further showers on Wednesday and spells of rain or showers at times through the rest of the week with temperatures ranging from around 11 to 14 degrees and light or moderate mainly westerly winds.
