38 new cases of Covid-19 in Meath

A further eight deaths have been reported in people with Covid-19 in Ireland along with 448 new cases of the virus, 38 of them in Meath.

Of the deaths notified today: three occurred in March, two in February and three in January or earlier.

The total number of Covid-19 cases since the outbreak of the virus here last year now stands at 254,013 and the number of people who have died is now 4,937.

There are now 109 people in hospital with the virus, and 34 of those are in ICU beds.

As of last Monday (10th May) there have been 1,882,635 doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered in Ireland: 1,376,583 people have received their first dose and 506,052 people have received their second dose.

Of the cases notified today:

213 are men and 230 are women

78% are under 45 years of age

the median age is 29 years old

229 are in Dublin, 38 in Meath, 35 in Kildare, 34 in Cork, 16 in Limerick and the remaining 96 cases are spread across 16 other counties
