Local phone numbers used by bogus scammers

Gardai have received reports that bogus scammers are using a Trim phone number to look for bank details stating that money is owed.

Advice for public in the media warnings is always the same, according to Meath Crime Prevention.

Be wary of such calls, especially if initially it is automated

Do not engage

Do not return call

Hang up

Never share personal information

Never give away pps number

Banking details or personal pin numbers

Do not allow them to move money out of your account

Do not download any apps onto your phone or remote access to your laptop

Do not remove money for them

Do not meet them

Do not arrange to meet them.

Office of the Attorney General, Gardaí or Social Protection will never ring you and ask you for personal data.
