A further 45 people have died from Covid-19

The Department of Health has confirmed another 45 deaths from Covid-19 as the country braces for at least another month of Level Five restrictions.

Health officials have also been notified of an additional 575 new cases of the virus, 23 of them in Meath.

The death toll from Covid-19 in Ireland is 4,181, and the total number of confirmed cases is now at 216,300.

Of the cases notified today 272 are men, 298 are women and 68 per cent are under 45 years of age

There were 218 cases in Dublin, 38 in Galway, 35 in Louth, 27 in Limerick, 26 in Westmeath and the remaining 231 cases are spread across 20 other counties.

The 14-day incidence rate per 100,000 population is 240.4.
