From Group 1 success in Australia to Dundalk claimers
After sourcing the aptly-named Comin' Through from a Dundalk claimer last November Dunboyne trainer Jack Davison got a win out of the Australian-bred Group 1 winner today at the Louth track with the assistance of champion jockey Colin Keane.
Comin' Through won the Group 1 Doomben Cup in 2018 when trained by Chris Waller in Australia and was then switched to racing in the UK starting off in the £105,000 Tote Victoria Cup (Heritage Handicap) at Ascot in 2019 for trainer George Scott.
Some eight outings later without a win in the UK and dropping from a rating of 110 to 86 there was a journey to the sales where 10,000 Guineas was exchanged and a trip to Irish trainer Johnny Levins last year.
From Group 1 in 2018 to a Dundalk claimer in November 2020, Comin' Through found the winning formula again, but was promptly snapped up by Davison and relocated to Dunboyne after Genesis Thoroughbreds speculated €15,000
Now an eight-year-old and rated 85 another win was recorded today to the satisfaction of the trainer.
"He's a nice one to have, insofar as you know he's going to show up most days he runs and in this kind of grade he falls in for a win every now and then," stated Davison to irishracing.com.
Keane completed a double when he added another winner to his tally later on the card for trainer Michael Halford with Spelga.
