Long awaited library for Bettystown moves a step closer to reality

The long awaited library for Bettystown moved a step closer to reality as Meath County Council has put it out to tender.

Following a considerable period of public consultation, Part 8 Planning was granted at the end of 2020, and tender documents have now been prepared and released for submissions from interested parties.

The news was welcomed by Cllr Sharon Tolan who described it as "exciting news."

"The exciting project includes an exceptional beachfront library, community rooms, lifeguard and beach warden space, public toilets and disability toilets and changing facility, also known as a ‘changing places’ facility. The facility will also house beach wheelchairs and mats to ensure the beach is accessible for all.

The Phase 1 Tender Documents for Bettystown Library and Community Building were uploaded on Friday and the closing date for the tender is Tuesday, 2nd of March.

"The council aims to appoint a contractor and commence works in summer," she said.

“This is very exciting news for the residents of East Meath - to at last have a library and community facility they can be proud of. We have progressed one step closer to seeing that delivered, and I will continue to promote and push this project until completion,” concluded Cllr Tolan.
