Three legends in Navan Road Club at the start of the 1967 Ras Tailteann in Killarney. Mick Creighton was the first clubman to win a stage race when he took overall honours in the 1960 Ras Connacht.

He won a Ras Tailteann stage into Carlow in 1967.

Seamus Kennedy won the Ras Tailteann in 1978 and became the fourth Meath cyclist to take this great race.

Brian Connaughton was the first member of the club to win the Ras Tailteann in 1969 and he won his only Ras stage in the Phoenix Park in 1981.

GAA: provincial championships - the draws for the provincial football and hurling championships have been postponed until the end of February at the earliest.

Inter-county training - the GAA Covid-19 advisory group will meet on Monday 15th February to assess the possibility for inter-county football and hurling teams returning to training.

Ballinabrackey: Wednesday 31st March - closing date for 2021 membership. The walking track is open for members to use during the winter months, use hand sanitising stations around the pitch and walk in one direction only.

The club has thanked all the local business owners who have sponsored advertising signs around the perimeter of the pitch for 2021.

Carnaross: walking track is open for all members to exercise safely within their 5km radius.

The lights will automatically turn on at 5pm and turn off at 9pm.

PITCH & PUTT

Rathfeigh: a vote of sympathy was passed with the family of the late Nicko Lynch who passed away last month. The late Mr Lynch was an active club member for many years and was a former chairman of the club.

He represented the club at team and single events and played successfully on various club teams including partnerships with his sons Colm and Stephen who are both members.

Club colleagues provided a guard of honour (compliant with restrictions) at Rathfeigh cemetery on Monday 25th January.

RUGBY

Ratoath RFC: Friday 23rd April - the club is organising a fundraising car draw to support development of new clubhouse; subscription €50, limited to 1,000 members. This will be the main fundraiser for the next phase of the planned development work.
