Attack on Navan Town bus

A rock was thrown through the window of a local bus at the Clogherboy estate at 10pm on Monday night. This was the second incident of its kind missiles were also thrown at buses entering the estate on Saturday night.

Both incidents have left drivers fearful of entering the Clogherboy area at night and the local community are afraid the service will be taken out of the estate if the attacks continue.

Speaking following incident local councillor Eddie Fennessy said,

"An attack on the Navan Bus Service is an attack not only on drivers and passengers but on the wider community. Thankfully the bus was empty at the time or we could be dealing with a very serious incident.

"This is an excellent service that facilitates everyone from school children to adults, workers and most importantly pensioners. Where these type of incidents happened in the past services have ceased leaving the local community to pick up the pieces. Whoever is responsible for this despicable act needs to take stock of the consequences of their actions and stop immediately before someone is badly injured.

"I call on anyone who witnessed the incident or might have information to contact Navan Garda Station immediately."
