Leahy departs Mayo as Meath position ratified

Ratified last night as Meath under-20 football head coach for the forthcoming Leinster championship Peter Leahy today announced his departure from his role as Mayo ladies senior football manager.

Leahy will join the backroom team of newly-ratified Meath u-20 manager Bernard Flynn along with Graham Geraghty, Graham Reilly and Robbie Brennan after three seasons at the helm in Mayo.

Leahy was appointed Mayo boss in November 2017 after a successful stint with the Westmeath intermediate team.

He guided Mayo to the Ladies All-Ireland semi-final in 2019 where they lost to Galway.

Leahy will join two-time All-Ireland winner Flynn along with Reilly, Geraghty, Brennan and Shane Supple as part of ambitious three-year plan by Meath Co Board.

Speaking to MidWest Radio today Leahy said:

"An opportunity arose, it's been on the cards for a week and a half, it leaked to the media that I was going to be involved with the Meath u-20s and it was ratified last night."
