Meath selector Gerry Cooney replaced by Paul Nestor

Meath senior football selector Gerry Cooney has stepped down from his role on the county team where he was a key member of manager Andy McEntee's backroom team.

That information was announced at tonight's Co Board meeting - a remote meeting - Cooney will be replaced by Paul Nestor who is currently a member of the minor set up as selector.

The Meath minor team has a Leinster MFC final date to be fixed for a rescheduled decider against Offaly.

Nestor is also the minor coach with Dunshaughlin and will surely relish his new role with the senior team.

"Thanks to Gerry Cooney for his efforts over the years and we wish Paul Nestor the best of luck in his new role also," commented Meath Co Board chairman John Kavanagh after tonight's announcement.
