A STUNNING Meath singer has shared a video of a duet with her 10 year old self which she made as a gift for her granddad who couldn't travel home for Christmas due to Covid-19

Britain's Got Talent star Leah Barniville (18) performs the Celine Dion hit The Prayer alongside her ten year old self in a breath-taking rendition which she painstakingly pieced together as a Christmas gift for her grandfather.

The video shows an angelic young girl singing the note-perfect song with older Leah proudly looking on before she comes in to add harmony to the piece.

Granddad Liam Roche who turned 80 during the summer has been living in Spain since his wife died a number of years ago and deemed it unsafe to travel home for the holidays this year.

"He is on his own but has loads of friends over there as he and my nan used to spend half the year there anyway before she died," said Leah who lives in Ratoath.

"He just decided this year with the rising number of Covid-19 cases that he should stay in Spain and continue to self-isolate.

"I was planning my Christmas presents a few months ago and deliberating on what to get him and then thought he might like a song. I found a video on an old computer of me singing at my uncle's wedding when I was ten - just a few months after my nan died.

"I decided to try and piece it together so it became a duet of me now singing with my ten-year-old self. It was very experimental as I had never done anything like it before so it took a few attempts before I was happy with it.

"I told granddad that I was sending him a present during a zoom call to him on Christmas Day and he was delighted when he got it. So that made it all worthwhile."
