Three further deaths from Covid-19

There have been three further deaths related to Covd-19, Department of Health officials confirmed this evening.

The Department was also notified of 313 new cases of coronavirus.

The death toll from Covid-19 in Ireland is 2,120, and the total number of confirmed cases is now at 75,507.

Meanwhile the incidence rate throughout Meath continues to fall with the Kells electoral area having the lowest at 15.4 per 100,000 compared to the national average of 80.2 per 100,000. There had been five new cases in the Kells area in the fortnight up to last Monday.

Laytown/Bettystown has the highest rate in the county at 85 per 100,000 and 29 new cases, and all the other electoral areas were considerably lower than the national average.

Trim had 11 new cases and a rate of 35.3, Ratoath had 12 cases and a rate of 36, while Navan had 18 new cases and a rate of 56.5.

As of 2pm today 197 COVID-19 patients in Ireland are hospitalised, of which 35 are in ICU. 12 additional hospitalisations have occurred in the past 24 hours.

Of the cases notified today:

144 are men / 169 are women

67 per cent are under 45 years of age

The median age is 35 years old

There were 70 in Dublin, 31 in Mayo, 21 in Kilkenny, 19 in Donegal, 18 in Laois and the remaining 154 cases are spread across 19 other counties.
