Happy 100th Birthday, Alice!

There were birthday celebrations in Moorehall Lodge in Ardee last Thursday for Alice Mary Carroll who celebrated her 100th birthday with her family.

There was a small party for Alice, from Sliabh Breagh in Ardee, in Moorehall to celebrate the milestone birthday.

Alice is originally a Halpenny from Killany, Co Monaghan and was one of four children. She married Owen Carroll when she was 22 and moved to Ardee, where Owen worked with the ESB.

Sadly Owen died 37 years ago.

"Hard work and keeping busy," is her recipe for long life.

Alice and Owen had eight children - Anne, James, Alice, Teresa, Michael, Betty and Dolores as well as the late Kitty. She is also a proud grandmother of 23 and has 28 great grandchildren.

Alice is a hard worker, a very private person and a big fan of Daniel O' Donnell. She loves bingo and cycling and used to cycle until she was in her 80s.

Alice really enjoys crosswords and wordsearches and can be found working on one of her puzzles every day.
