16 more deaths from Covid-19

Health officials have confirmed another 16 people have died from Covid 19 bringing the death toll from the coronavirus in Ireland to 1,963.

A further 270 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in Ireland, the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) has said this evening. 14 new cases were confirmed as of pm today.

The total number of confirmed cases is now at 65,889.

In a statement, NPHET said of 16 people confirmed today to have died, 14 were recorded this month.

Meanwhile five people were being treated for Covid-19 in hospital in Navan and a further 21 in Drogheda, up to 8pm last night (Monday), and Meath continues the be one of the worst affected counties.

Meath had the third highest incidence rate of Covid-19 in the country at 212.8 per 100,000 in the week up to 2nd November.

Only Donegal and Limerick were higher.

Nationally the 14-day incidence per 100,000 population is now 151.

Ratoath has the highest rate in County Meath with the most recent figures showing a rate of 543.2 per 100,000 and 181 cases.

Despite being more than three times the national average, the incidence rate has dropped dramatically from the previous week when it stood at 1365.6.

Ashbourne had 146 cases and an incidence rate of 502, while Kells had 123 and an incidence rate of 379.7

Trim had a further 109 new cases and a rate of 349.4 per 100,000, while Navan had 101 cases and a rate of 289.1.

Laytown/Bettystown had the lowest rate in the county at 102.6 per 100,000 and was well below the national average with just 35 recorded cases.
