The author hopes that people who are going through domestic violence will be able to learn from his story.

A brave Welsh author whose mother hails from Navan has written a book based on his experience of domestic violence within a gay relationship.

J L Russell has made his entry into the literary world in the most touching way possible with the release of “The Multiple Lover.”

The book was written from a retrospect, as the talented author narrated his travails in a past relationship, sharing his emotional rollercoaster experience with readers as he aims to highlight domestic abuse to the men and women who are or have been the victims of domestic violence.

JL says he was inspired to put pen to paper as a way to ‘confront his demons’ after a traumatic relationship ‘scarred him for life.’

JL whose mother Mary Bracken grew up on Flower Hill is looking to make a difference by giving a first-hand experience of handling heartbreak and the unfortunate phenomenon of domestic abuse in the gay community which is still a taboo subject.

The author hopes that people who are going through domestic violence will be able to learn from his story. He said”

“I wrote my book because of a past relationship I was in.

“I went through an emotional rollercoaster when the person who I was deeply in love with was in fact cheating on me and when I challenged them about the text messages I saw on their phone, they became violent towards me.

“This pattern of abuse lasted more than ten years.

“Writing the book brought out all the hurt I had bottled up inside my heart, it needed to be released as if it was a hidden demon which had to be laid to rest.”

The book is coming out at best possible time, considering the unfortunate increase in the spate of domestic violence in gay and heterosexual relationships according to the author.

“Relationships are often filled with ups and downs as the parties involved struggle and fight for a cause they are passionate about.

“In a similar vein, the gay community is not speared off the adventures of an average relationship.

“The experience scarred me for life, I’m now very cautious about who I fall in love with because the fear is still there that it could all happen again.

“Thankfully I had a great support network with family and friends, they helped me through it.

“It was great therapy writing it all out.

JL from Wales is a regular visitor to Meath where his extended family reside.

“I hope that if someone reads this and recognises this pattern of behaviour within their own relationship it might lead them to seek help.”

JL is a regular visitor to Meath where his extended family reside.

“I visit my family in Billywood near Moynalty every Christmas, it is like my second home. I love the countryside it’s like a different way of life all together.

“My mother Mary Bracken grew up on Flowerhill in Navan so I really feel a strong connection to the area. “
