What's new pussycat? Tom Jones hoping to sniff out Nose of Tralee title

What's New, Pussycat? An Enfield family is hoping that its tom cat, Tom Jones, can bring the 2020 Pet Sitters Ireland 'Nose of Tralee' title back to the green green grass of Meath!

We are a Meath family from Enfield looking for our county to get behind us in a bid to have our cat Tom Jones crowned the Nose of Tralee 2020!

Carol McDonnell explains: "A tom cat strayed into the yard over three years ago looking scrawny, with a humpy back and a crooked tail. He was very nervous but we eventually won him over with cat food and some TLC.

We called him Tom Jones and sang ‘What’s New Pussy Cat’ to him. In sickness and in health he kept our family de-stressed as he saved us from murder, divorce, and he even entertained us. We all told him our troubles which proved that we did indeed need a therapist and Tom Jones was the best therapist we could get. We paid him in jellied cat food, nuts and head massages. This was a good deal for all of us."

She continues: "Tom Jones is now healthy, very happy and is thriving as the Meath Nose of Tralee. Tom Jones would be very happy to bring the title of ‘Nose of Tralee’ back to the Royal County. Could it be the turn of this once crooked tailed cat to succeed in the Nose of Tralee? Either way Tom Jones is a tonic amidst these worrying times."

Pet Sitters Ireland is running its seventh annual competition sponsored by Tesco Ireland, to find one pet in Ireland to crown ‘The Nose of Tralee', open to all types of pets. Over 1,500 pets entered this year and 32 noses have been selected to represent their counties. A public vote between 5th and 25th August will decide who will win the title of ‘Nose of Tralee 2020.’
