Body of man recovered from River Boyne

The body of a man was recovered from the River Boyne this afternoon.

The man understood to be from Slane was aged in his 30s and died following a fishing accident in Drogheda.

The body was recovered from the water near Townley Hall.

Gardai, Coast Guard units and the Boyne Fisherman’s Rescue and Recovery attended the scene after receiving reports that someone had gotten into difficulty in the water.

The man was taken from the river and pronounced dead a short time later.

His body has since been removed and taken to the morgue at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.
