Navan woman's death in house fire

A Navan woman lost her life in a fire at her home off the Commons Road yesterday evening.

Meath County Fire Service received a call to attend a housefire at Ros na Ri around 6pm.

Two units from Navan and one from Kells attended the scene, along with a water tanker.

Despite a quick reaction by the fire service, they were unable to save the lady (49) from the fire which started in a back bedroom.

Garda forensics are examining the scene.

The house was an end house in a three-residence terrace, and the fire service was able to prevent the fire from spreading to the other units. There was nobody else injured in the fire, as two others who were downstairs when the blaze broke out were able to get out in time.
