...But young superheroes set right example

Max McCabe (7) from Carlanstown noticed last week just how much litter was on the roads while he and his family were out on their many walks. Max wanted to clean up so, with his litter picker, gloves and bucket he cleaned up a lot of rubbish all within his 2km distance. Max believes adults are the main offenders with litter including coffee cups, cigarette packets and beer cans.

Mum Geraldine says: “When Max returned home he separated the rubbish and discovered that over half of the collection could be put in the recycling bin, so he doesn't really understand why adults would be so lazy and not be more aware of the environment.”

Max now plans to get bigger containers and buckets from the hardware stores when they open so he can go back out and about and when he is older he wants to invent a bike that can pick up the litter as he cycles.

Not to be outdone, Maebh Regan (5), from Dunshaughlin has also been busy collecting rubbish on the Killeen road in the last few weeks (with her mum's gloves). Thanks Orlagh Murray for sending in the pic and well done Maebh.
