Good start for Meath camogie team

Meath made a positive start to life in the National Camogie League Div 2 with a fine win over hosts Down in the opening round yesterday.

The victory got new manager off to a winning start as he took over the reins from John Davis who enjoyed unprecedented success with the team over a 10-year period.

Yesterday Meath posed too many questions for Down and won convincingly by 2-13 to 0-7.

The Meath women were ahead at the interval by 1-10 to 0-4.

In the other game in the group Cork defeated Carlow by 0-7 to 0-3.

Meath compete in a five-team group and will be action again with a home game next Sunday while Cork will have a bye.
