School teams bask in glory

This week students in at least six schools will feel just champion after savouring victory in the second day of the Meath Primary Schools' finals which were held at Trim yesterday. 

The boys and girls from Ballinacree NS, Donore NS, Kentstown NS, Oristown NS, Moylagh NS and St Colmcille's, Kells all tasted victory in their respective finals played in warm conditions. 

In an impressive piece of oganisation and planning the first game of the day between Ballinacree NS and Newtown NS started on the dot of 9am and the contests continued on until the afternoon. 

As the day got warmer breaks to allow the young footballers take on board some water were sensibly introduced. Teachers were out in force as mentors or referees and youngsters who took part and enjoyed victories, will no doubt, remember the day for a long time to come. 

All the games were watched by large contingents of parents who arrived and departed throughout the day depending on what game they wanted to see.
