Reddan wants cyclists for Paris-Nice ride

Ireland and Leinster scrumhalf Eoin Reddan is looking for representatives from Meath to join the Irish Youth Foundation team which will cycle from Paris to Nice this September to raise funds for disadvantaged children in Ireland.

Now in its third year, Paris2Nice is an incredibly enjoyable six-day event, starting on 28th September, for people of all abilities (even beginners), which takes cyclists through some of the most spectacular scenery in France, and also raises valuable income for charity.

Totaling just over 700km in 6 days the event has been designed with all levels of experience and fitness in mind. Training schedules and weekly cycles, advice on bikes and equipment, and fundraising ideas are available from the event organisers, making this challenge achievable for everyone.

Eoin, who suffered a broken leg against France in the Six Nations, will provide the Irish Youth Foundation team with training and fitness tips to ensure they are prepared and ready for the event.

Eoin was joined by Ireland’s favourite Kiwi, Brent Pope to encourage as many people as possible to sign up to the event and to raise funds for the Irish Youth Foundation (www.iyf.ie). The IYF provides vital support for disadvantaged and at-risk children and young people.

Eoin said, “We get amazing support from Meath supporters at our Leinster games and our goal is to have at least one cyclist from every county do the Paris2Nice for Team IYF.

“This is a fantastic, fun event and the Irish Youth Foundation is a great cause. It transforms the lives and provides opportunities for so many young people in Ireland that would otherwise never get the chance. But they need our support.”

Niall McLoughlin, IYF Director of Development said, “I’m delighted to have Eoin on board as our fitness advisor! We need at least 10 cyclists to join Team IYF in order to reach our target of €30,000; money that will be spent on funding Homework Clubs in some of the most disadvantaged areas in Ireland. So please get in touch and get peddling!”

The entry fee for Paris2Nice is €1,750 per person. In addition each person must raise a minimum of €3,000 for the charity. If you are interested in joining Team IYF for Paris2Nice 2013 please contact niall@iyf.ie or call 01 6766535. For more information on the event please see www.paris2nice.com.
