Ward in fine form at Skryne

Cian Ward scored 1-3 in Skryne on Thursday night as Wolfe Tones negotiated Dunshaughlin by 1-14 to 1-11 in the second round of the SFC.

Ward was one of 10 players to score for the Tones with his goal arriving in the seventh minute as he displayed all the attributes that made him a regular on the Meath team for so long.

Ward converted three second-half frees, hit the woodwork with two point attempts from play and was narrowly off target from a close range free in the last action of the game. Tones were ahead by 1-7 to 1-5 at the interval.

This win puts the Tones in a strong position in this group as they prepare for their third round showdown against local rivals Simonstown Gaels in a few weeks.
