78 new jobs for Ashbourne
Taoiseach Enda Kenny announced 78 new jobs for Meath at Largo Foods/Tayto Park on Thursday morning. It is a major jobs boost for the Kilbrew complex, which manufactures Tayto and Hunky Dory crisps and is home to the highly successful Tayto Park, which attracted around 450,000 visitors to County Meath last year. Both businesses already employ a workforce numbering several hundred. Largo Foods is the largest snack-food company in Ireland, sourcing 30,000 tonnes of potatoes from Irish farmers annually, which equates to approximately 10 per cent of the nation's annual potato crop. The Ashbourne factory manufactures some of the most iconic snack-food brands in the country, including Tayto, Hunky Dorys, Perri, Sam Spudz and King. Together, these five brands account for a 50 per cent share of the Irish market. Largo directly services over 3,500 customers in Ireland and its main export market is the UK.
