Moynalty claims top TT spot for the 18th year in a row
For the 18th year on the trot, Moynalty has once again claimed to the top spot in the county in the annual SuperValu Tidy Towns competition. Meath's tidiest village achieved its 10th gold medal and finished just two marks behind the overall winner, Abbeyshrule, Co Longford. Moynalty achieved an extra four marks this year, resulting in an impressive score of 310 marks. Moynalty Tidy Towns chairperson Peter Rogers said the group were very pleased with their marks and delighted to gain four extra marks at this level. He added that it gets harder to gain extra marks as a town nears the top. He said that Moynalty's success was down to a "whole community effort and not just the tidy towns". Mr Rogers added: "We were only two marks behind the winner. We are so close and we will get there yet." To read the full story see this week's Meath Chronicle.
