Kells student wins Naughton scholarship
Kells student Brendan Murray, who is starting his Degree in Maths and Theoretical Physics in NUI Maynooth this year, has just been awarded top prize in the Naughton Foundation Scholarship Programme. The former Pobalscoil Ciaran student will recieve a scholarship for the duration of his undergraduate degree programme. Earlier this year, Brendan was presented with Established Leaving Certificate Student of the Year award by Dermot Carney, school principal. This year, the Naughton Foundation is awarding 10 annual scholarships to two students from each of the counties Meath, Louth, Monaghan, Donegal and Mayo who choose to study engineering, science or technology at third-level in Ireland. The awards reception will be held at the Science Gallery in Trinity College, Dublin, on Saturday, where Education Minister Batt O'Keeffe will present Brendan with his prize. The school of the winning student also recieves €1,000 towards the school's science laboratory as part of the prize.
