Athboy recording artist Noel Flynn has just released his latest single, ‘Picture In A Frame’ ahead of the release of his long-awaited third studio album.
‘Picture In A Frame’ was previously a hit for Stella Parton and Moe Bandy Stateside, having been penned by top country songwriter Dennis Knutson, and Noel Flynn puts his own unique take on the song. It is complemented by a top class arrangement from acclaimed producer Ollie Hennessy at the Room 404 Studios in Carlow, who also recently served as the musical director for this year’s Rose of Tralee Festival broadcast on RTE. Blending hints of American country, roots, bluegrass and folk, this is a new interpretation of an old classic, which will suit many tastes.
Noel is a lifelong country music fan and worked as a DJ for a number of years before making the switch into performing. He released his first album ‘Turn Back The Years’ four years ago, which was a mixture of Irish and American country classics. He then followed it up with ‘The Heart That Beats In Ireland’ which followed the same formula, but also included a number of rare under-covered gems including ‘Talking To Your Picture On The Wall’ and ‘Another Man’s Sky’.
Since the success of the last album, Noel’s profile has grown and he has taken a band on the road. As well as having performed throughout Ireland, Noel has also performed in the UK, appearing at venues such as Conway’s 3 in London, and the Irish World Heritage Centre in Manchester. Through the popularity of his music on a number of online radio stations, Noel has also gathered a loyal, dedicated fan following in America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
Since releasing his last album in May 2011, Noel has put a lot of time and effort into making sure his new release will live up to the high standards that his previous two set. He says: “Since the last album, we’ve worked really hard to select tracks and spare no expense to produce an album which will live up to the same standards as the last two. I’m really pleased with it, but most of all I hope the fans, radio presenters and promoters in Ireland and further afield will enjoy it, because they’ve been responsible for all that has happened for me to date.” Noel plans to release his long-awaited third album this autumn.
