Scottish coaches to attend MDL course

There will be an opportunity for experienced and not-so-experienced local coaches to add to their store of knowledge when a coaching workshop takes place at the MDL on Sunday 8th July. 
The workshop will be hosted by the Head of Coaching at the St Mirren Academy Allan McManus and St Mirren FC Chief Executive Tony Fitzpatrick. 
The schedule includes: 11.30am - coaching session for girls; 12.30pm - coaching session for boys (2007); 1.30pm - Q & A; 3pm - games followed by discussion with Allan McManus and Tony Fitzpatrick.

TONY FITZPATRICK
Tony Fitzpatrick was (born 3 March 1956 in Glasgow) and is a former Scottish football player and manager. He made a record 351 league appearances (458 in all competitions) for St Mirren FC in two spells, playing for Bristol City (When they were in the top flight of English Football) in the two intervening seasons. Fitzpatrick was made captain of St Mirren at the age of 17 by the then manager Alex Ferguson He represented the Scottish League XI once, in a 1–1 draw with the Italian League in April 1978. 
During his time with the Paisley he was club captain when they won the 1987 Scottish Cup to defeat Dundee United to lift the trophy. He also managed the club between 1988 and 1991 and again between 1996 and 1998. Fitzpatrick had a spell as Youth Development Manager at Livingston FC. He then decided to change his focus and concentrate on an interest of his, developing peoples self-esteem and confidence through sport and group work.
He ran Kan-Do Sports Training and Development, working with both adults and teenagers seeking to return to employment by developing their skills'. Fitzpatrick is now current St Mirren chief executive and when he and the new board came in 2 years and a half years ago the club were bottom of Scotland’s second tier. 
They are now back into Scotland’s top league the Premiership for next season. Fitzpatrick was voted by supporters to have a street named in his honour - Fitzpatrick Way - following a public competition run by Renfrewshire Council to name the streets at the former Love St ground being developed. 

ALLAN McMANUS
Allan McManus (born 17 November 1974 in Paisley, Renfrewshire) is a Scottish former professional football player and coach. He played for Hearts, Livingston, Alloa Athletic, Ayr United, Airdrie United, St Johnstone, Greenock Morton, Dumbarton, Arbroath and Airdrie making over 383 first team appearances. 
The panicle of McManus's playing career was when he lifted the Scottish Cup for Hearts when they defeated Rangers FC in 1998. Alan had a spell as assistant coach at Greenock Morton and interim manager at St. Mirren FC following the departure of Alex Rae and the arrival of Jack Ross. During Jack Ross’s tenure McManus, as well as heading up the academy, worked as a first team coach and was on the bench at all first team games. 
Alan is the current head of the very successful St. Mirren FC Academy which has a conveyer belt of talent with an average of 6 academy graduates playing for the first team on a regular basis.
