Clancy's Drogheda remain unbeaten

Timmy Clancy's Drogheda Utd maintained an unbeaten run when they recovered from a two-goal deficit to earn a point with Galway Utd in the League of Ireland First Division last night.

Clancy made three changes from the side that defeated Wexford 8-1 last week as Lloyd Buckley replaced Colm Deasy who later came on as a substitute and then picked up two yellow cards.

Kealen Dillon and Gareth McCaffrey started for the unavailable pair of Sean Brennan and Lee Duffy.

Under the recently upgraded United park lighths it took second half goals from Mark Doyle and Luke Gallagher to earn 10-man Drogheda an important point even at this early stage of the season.

Drogheda were reduced to 10 men with about 15 minutes remaining when Colm Deasy departed on a second yellow card.

For Doyle it was a fourth goal in three games and Clancy's men will be in action again this Monday night when Finn Harps make the journey from Ballybofey to play the game that wasn't played on opening night due to those lights (not enough of them were working).

Drogheda United scored 22 goals in 33 Premier Division games last season, Clancy's side has scored 16 goals in three First Division games so far this season.

On Friday night next Drogehda go to Dublin to play Cabinteely.
