Trim Celtic continue quest for Challenge Cup

The quest to re-claim the NEFL Challenge Cup continues for Trim Celtic after they defeated Navan Town 3-1 at Tully Park today.

Last winners of the coveted trophy in 2016 the Hoops took an early lead through Lar Ivers. Brian Faulkner added  another goal soon after to put Paddy O'Reilly's side in firm control of the contest.

It looked like the game could end up as one sided as a shipwreck however tenacious Navan Town dug in and battled back to get a goal shortly before half-time when Chris Hand fired home from close range after the Trim Celtic defence failed to clear.

Trim Celtic, who are flying high in the NEFL Premier, continued to press forward in the second-half creating chance after chance but they only added one more goal to their account when Eoin O'Connor scored with a glancing header. Daniel Shields made a number of outstanding saves to keep the young Navan Town team in the game.
