OMP edged out by Muirhevnamor

OMP Utd were edged out in a five-goal encounter tonight at the MDL in a lively NEFL Premier game against Muirhevanamor.

Muirhevnamor took the lead a little against the run of play when Mickey O'Kane finished a quick counter attack, but OMP were level soon after when Jamie Blake converted a penalty.

The Navan men were ahead at the interval following an excellent move that produced a David Bowens goal for a 2-1 interval lead.

Muirhevanamor upped the tempo in the second-half but had to wait until the 71st minute for an equaliser from Billy Smith's penalty and then substitute Tiernan Mulvenna hit the winner with 10 minutes remaining.

This was fiesty encounter and there was an almost constant flow of whinging towards referee Conor Byrne and his assistants Niall Byrne and Michael Bryan and it continued after the final whistle with an irate OMP supporter taking the opportunity to express an opinion as the officials left the playing area.
