OMP players will have be in top form on Friday night.

Black Bull lose protest but OMP still need a point

Navan club OMP Utd will have to get at least a point from the top-of-the-table clash against Ardee Celtic if they are to take the NEFL Div 1trophy back to the Round O for some well-earned celebrations on Friday night.

They still need a point to guarantee the title despite the fact that the North East Football League dismissed a protest by Div 1
title-chasing Black Bull last night.

Black Bull had portested over the eligibility of a Woodview player from a 2-2 draw two weeks ago and if they had won the protest it wouldhave put them back in contention for the title.

However, Black Bull's protest was unsuccessful, but they now have four days to appeal the NEFL decision to the LFA and that deadline will only expire next Tuesday.

If OMP want to get their hands on the trophy on Friday night, their last game in the league, they will have to get at least a point.

Otherwise the trophy will not be presented although OMP could still be declared champions even if they lose, but not until after Tuesday night next.

All this means that Enfield Celtic could still get third place and earn a play-off for pormotion, provided they beat Torro Utd in their last game - a game that has been re-fixed after it was abandoned lastw eek due to floodlight failure.

But, Enfield had two players suspended following incidents after their 2-2 draw with OMP Utd at the MDL three weeks ago - the incident arose after the referee awarded what Enfield deemed was a controversial penalty - appearently the 'debate' continued after the game and the NEFL banned two players after considering the referee's report.

The two players will not be eligible to play against Torro Utd.
