Dunshaughlin student in action for Republic of Ireland Schools

Dunshaughlin Community College student Neill Byrne was in action yesterday for the Republic of Ireland Schools as they claimed a late win against Northern Ireland Schools in the Centenary Shield u-18 Boys' International in Bangor.

The hosts were ahead at the interval and appeared to be heading for victory until Alec Byrne (Carrigaline) equalised for the Republic in the 80th minute and then with six minutes remaining Neil Farrugia(St Andrew's, Blackrock) hit the winner.

That made it two wins from two with a trip to Glasgow next for the game against Scotland on 6yth April. The final game of the series will be at home to England on 13th April at Home Farm FC.

The boys from Boyne Community School, Trim will be in action in the FAI Schools First Year Boys Leinster Cup semi-final next Wednesday at the MDL in Navan.

They will face St Mary’s Diocesan School, Drogheda at the MDL, Trim Road, Navan (8th March) with a midday (12pm) kick-off.
