Cosmos attacker Colm Carney comes under pressure in today's game.

Cosmos look to push on after cup defeat

Navan Cosmos bowed out of the FAI Junior Cup after they lost 0-1 to Janesboro at the MDL today.

Both sides finished a man short with Janesboro's Stephen Bradley seeing red early in the second-half while Navan Cosmos's Jack Murray saw red shortly before the end.

The visitors took the lead on 17 minutes when Damien O'Neill crossed for Adrian Power to score at the far post.

Cillen Corcoran went close for Cosmos in the opening half but Derek Coogan's side couldn't translate possession into scores.

In the second-half it was all Cosmos in terms of possession with Corcoran, Colm Carney and Conor Walsh causing the visiting defence problems but there was no equaliser.

Conor Gilsenan also had to make a fine save to deny Janesboro striker Shane Clarke in the second-half while Paul Delaney also put in a fine tackle to take the ball away from Power who was ready to pull the trigger.

A disappointing for Cosmos who have still the Leinster Junior Cup to play for in competitions outside their own area.
