More awards for Amanda McQuillan

Former Johnstown and Trim Celtic player Amanda McQuillan has been selected on the FAI 2016 Continental Tyre Team of the Season, while former NECSL player Leanne Kiernan from Bailieboro is nominated for two National League awards.
McQuillan was named u-17 Player of the Year last year and featured for the Republic of Ireland u-19 side as they progressed to the European Championships.
The 18-year-old goalkeeper also made her senior debut for the Republic of Ireland in a friendly international against the Basque Country.
McQuillan enjoyed an outstanding season with her club Shelbourne as she helped the Dublin club, who are managed by Robinstown man Mark Leavy, to the domestic treble of League, FAI Cup and League Cup.
Kiernan, who scored an impressive hat-trick for Shelbourne in the Continental FAI Women’s Senior Cup final against Wexford Youths, takes her place next to team-mate Noelle Murray and Republic of Ireland international Karen Duggan for the prestigious Senior Player of the Year award.
Galway WFC’s Sadhbh Doyle and Peamount United’s Roma McLaughlin go up against Kiernan for the Young Player of the Year award, whilst Peamount striker Amber Barrett will be presented with the Irish Daily Mail Golden Boot award after scoring 16 goals during the 2016 campaign.
The 2016 Team of the Year features five Shelbourne players, as well as three UCD Waves players, Roma McLaughlin and Amber Barrett from Peamount and Chloe Moloney from Galway WFC.
The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 12th January, 12.30pm, at the Guinness Storehouse.
