Navan Cosmos goalscorer on the ball tonight.

Cosmos concede 91st minute equaliser

Navan Cosmos dropped two precious North East Football League Premier points tonight at the MDL when they conceded a 91st minute equaliser to Dundalk side Bellurgan Utd.

Cosmos were in front for most of the game after Donal Callan curled the ball past Bellurgan netminder Shane McCoy in the sixth minute from the edge of the area.

The game was played in fog that got progressively worse throughout the 90 minutes and it's probably fortunate that it was completed.

Cosmos created most of the chances in the opening half as some solid defensive play by the back four curtailed Bellurgan while there was also a number of tackles and challenges that kept referee Joe Dyas on his toes.

Bellurgan enjoyed a good spell at the start of the second-half, but the Cosmos appeared to have weathered the storm and could have added further goals through Ciaran Rogers and Cillien Corcoran.

Bellurgan never gave up and they were rewarded with that late equaliser from Niall Donnelly.

Cosmos will have a break now and will return to league action away to Kingscourt Harps in January before facing big games in the Leinster Senior Cup at home to Thomastown Utd and FAI Junior Cup away.
