Rogers looking forward to return to action

Meath Sportsperson of the year Gary Rogers will be looking forward to another outing in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday 12th July when Dundalk host FH Hafnarfjörður of Iceland in the second qualifying round with the second leg a week later on 19th July (dates to be confirmed).

The Bohermeen man and his Dundalk colleagues will return to action in the League of Ireland this Friday night after the mid-season break.

Dundalk will be expected to advance to the next round after they exited (1-2) at the first hurdle last year against BATE Borisov from Belarus who went on to qualify for the Group stages.

Former Dundalk striker Steven Lennon currently plays for the Icelandic champions.

Meath players will also be involved in the UEFA Europa League next week as the action is set to begin for Dublin clubs St Patrick's Athletic and Shamrock Rovers.

Jamie McGrath from Athboy plays for St Patrick's Athletic and the Inchicore side will welcome Luxembourg side AS Jeunesse Esch to Richmond Park next Tuesday 29th June with kick-off at 7.45pm for the first leg.

Trim man David O'Connor plays for Shamrock Rovers and they will welcome Finnish side ROPS Rovaniemi to the Tallaght Stadium on Thursday 30th June with kick-off at 8pm for the first leg.

The other tie features Cork City against Linfield in Belfast on Thursday 30th June with the second leg at Turner's Cross on Thursday 7th July.
