Four goals for Cosmos

Navan Cosmos recorded a good win tonight in the North East Football League Premier Division when they were too strong for a gallant Kingscourt Harps outfit and won by 4-0 with plenty to spare.

The Cosmos are now three points behind leaders Abbey Celtic with a game in hand and look like a team capable of making a serious bid for a title that they went so close to winning last season only to lose out in the final round of games.

Robbie Dillon had Derek Coogan's men in front after 18 minutes and Darragh McNamara added a second goal close to the interval.

Kingscourt gave it a good go in the second-half and Cosmos needed a third goal to kill off the game as a contest and this duly arrived when Ciaran Rogers finished well midway through the half.

The fourth goal was a penalty which Conor Walsh took but he hit the post and lost the race to finish the rebound when substitute Colin Lynch got a touch to claim that goal.

A good result for the Navan men with plenty of scope for more at the half-way stage in what will be a tight race for the Premier crown.
