Cosmos and celtic bid for final ticket

Navan Cosmos and Trim Celtic will be bidding for a place in the final of the NEFL Challenge Cup this evening when they clash in the firts semi-final at the MDL in Navan 5pm kick-off.

Due to concerns about ground conditions at Kentstown - the original venue for the game - and with the agreement of both clubs, the semi-final has been switched to the MDL Grounds Trim Road.

The other semi-final will be played tomorrow between Ardee Celtic and Bellurgan Utd.

Navan Cosmos can look to tradition as a good omen for this encounter - back in 1981 they made it to the final of the first Challenge Cup when the league was known as the Mid-Meath League. They didn't win that season, but they won it in 1982 (see photo of winning team above)
