Cosmos striker Laurence Ivers gets a shot away.

Late goal rush seals victory for cosmos

With a flurry of late goals Navan Cosmos sealed a 3-0 victory over Muirhevnamor in the NEFL Premier today and kept their title ambitions on track.

Colm Gilsenan scored an early goal for the Navan side but the game didn't turn into the rout that might have been expected against a struggling Co Louth side.

Instead Cosmos had to work hard to seal their way and it wasn't until the 89th minute that Laurence Ivers headed to the net for their second goal.

A minute later Gilsenan crossed for James Boland to score from close range and put a better gloss on the scoreboard from the home team's point of view.

Comos passed the ball well but they struggled to open up the well-organised Muirhevnamor defence.

Unable to find any consistency all season Muirhevnamor are in a battle to avoid relegation and they fought hard for everything in this game without managing to carve out any clear-cut opportunities.

Navan Cosmos turn their attention to the Challenge Cup next weekend when they take on Trim Celtic in an intriguing semi-final encounter.
