Big oscar traynor game for nefl in navan on sunday

The North East Football League will take on the Kilkenny League in a preliminary quarter-final tie of the FAI Oscar Traynor Trophy at the MDL on Sunday, 3pm kick-off.

Paddy O’Reilly's (pictured) NEFL side have every reason to go into this contest optimistic that they can chalk up a victory after wins against the United Churches League by 5-1 and 7-0 against the Leinster Football League.

Duleek’s Barry Kavanagh fired home six goals against an LFL outfit who collapsed in the second-half.

Kilkenny will go into the game on the back of victories over Wexford (2-0), Waterford (4-0) and Carlow (6-2).

“For the first time in a few years we’ve got a settled squad, every manager has co-operated with us, there’s not an issue at all, we haven’t had to chop and change the squad, we’ve got a settled squad,” said the manager.

A victory on Sunday will earn an away game against Limerick in the quarter-finals.
