Rogers opens new chapter with dundalk

Gary Rogers has opened up a new chapter in his career after signing a two-year deal with the Airtricity Premier League champions Dundalk.
Rogers moves to Oriel Park after three successful seasons with Sligo Rovers when he won a League title, the FAI Cup and the Setanta Sports Cup.
Rogers has had a long and varied career in League of Ireland football making over 500 appearances in league, cup and European games but he says he is looking forward to continuing his career with the Lilywhites.
The teams he has played for include St Francis, Drogheda Utd, Dublin City, Bray Wanderers, Galway United and Sligo Rovers. He spent five years with Drogheda, his longest spell with any club.
The Bohermeen man will certainly have less time travelling on the road next season as the trip to Dundalk will be considerably shorter than the journey to the Showgrounds.
“I had three brilliant years with Sligo Rovers, we won the league, the FAI Cup and the Setanta Sports Cup but the opportunity came to join Dundalk, the League of Ireland champions, and that was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down.
“The highlight for me with Sligo Rovers was winning the league title in 2012, no doubt. To bring the title to the club after 35 years in front of a big crowd at the Showgrounds was great.
“That was one of the reasons I was prepared to travel up and down to Sligo. I felt they had a chance to win the title and they did and I had the opportunity to play with some great players up there,” he added.
