Cosmos win in premier and trim celtic win in fai junior cup

Navan Cosmos bounced back from last week's disappointing away loss to local rivals Trim Celtic in emphatic fashion with a 5-1 thumping of Dundalk big-hitters Rock Celtic under the lights at the MDL on Friday night.

Cosmos opened the scoring with a fantastically well worked team goal, full-back Ciaran Hartnett's sweetly struck cross was deftly chested by Conor Walsh into the path of Lar Ivers who slotted home.

Cosmos went onto dominate a large chunk off the half, However, Rock grew into the game and were on level terms at half-time.

After the resumption Cosmos went on the front foot to once again regain the lead when Ivers extended his tally with a cool finish.

The games pivotal moment came moments later when Rock's netminder fouled Ivers leaving the ref with no choice but to point to the spot, Conor McManus duly converted

The Navan men were now in the ascendancy and piled on the pressure the game was put beyond doubt when Colm Gilsenan's effort proved too much for the 'keeper.

Ivers bagged a deserved hat-trick on the stroke of full-time.
