Looking ahead to this weeks mdl action

After the early rounds of the Kilmessan and O’Neill Shield competitions and the first series of games in the various leagues, all the teams in the Meath & District League should be in fine form at this stage as preparations continue for the next series of games. For the players on second teams, the Reserve League action starts this Saturday.

However, the big game this weekend sees Premier League champions Woodview Celtic in action in the Leinster Senior Cup on Saturday when they travel to take on Clontarf Ath at Baskin Lane with a 2.30pm kick-off scheduled.

Clontarf will be tough opposition as they are the UCFL Premier champions.

MDL
PREMIER

On Saturday Boca Rovers will play Boyne Harps at the MDL in Navan and will be aiming to get their first win after last week’s draw with Navan Cosmos.

Boyne Harps will be strong opposition for Boca as they defeated Duleek on Sunday with a Paddy O’Boyle goal and they played Drogheda Utd u-19s this week in a friendly.

They finished just above the relegation zone last season. Boca Could cause them problems.

Navan Cosmos go to Kentstown looking for their first win and they should be capable of handling the hosts.

Kentstown Rovers will be looking to get points on the board after a good display away to Muirhenamor last week.

Cosmos finished second in the Premier last season and will be a strong test for David Doyle’s men.

Duleek will be looking for some improvement when they take on Newfoundwell, last season’s Div 1 champions.

Barry Kavanagh’s scoring ability could be crucial. Newfoundwell got a 0-0 draw with Rock last week.

Trim Celtic will be expected to get another win at home when they tackle Bellurgan if they hope to make a serious bid for the title.

DIVISION 1
A couple of 'juicy’ games in store in Div 1 with Dromin set to host local rivals Square Utd and Navan Town welcoming Slane, the other game is Kingscourt at home to Ardee Celtic.

Dromin lost to Abbey Celtic last weekend and will want to take the points from this one.

Nine-man Navan Town managed to defeat Cavan Town last Sunday while Slane scored three to beat Blackbull. Suggests this could be high-scoring with Navan Town likely to shade the verdict.

Good result for Ardee against OMP (4-2 win) with goals from Raymond Hamilton (two), Robbie Reynolds and Jonathan Deegan, they could win again against Kingscourt Harps.
