FAI award for Trim Celtic

Meath & District League club Trim Celtic was last night named Aviva FAI Club of the Year and scooped the top prize of €5,000. The Aviva FAI Club of the Year award was announced  as part of the FAI AGM schedule this weekend.

Trim Celtic become the second club from the Royal County to scoop the prestigious title after Dunboyne's success in 2009 and are the ninth winners of the accolade. The  Trim Celtic club was one of eight  nominated for this year’s award.

This year’s award was changed to reflect Ireland’s finest clubs across the season in four different categories - Coach EducationWork in the CommunityUnder-age Participation,  Club Development & Facilities.

Trim Celtic received the nomination in the Participation category and secured a cheque of €1,500 for the nomination.

“It’s great to get the recognition from the FAI for all the hard work that’s been put in throughout the year.  The participation levels have made the club what it is today, especially getting more female players at the club and getting that to the level it’s at today,' said Trim Celtic's Brian McCreary, who is also a member of the Meath & District League Committee

The eight nominated clubs were at the club of the year nominees lunch earlier this month at the Carlton Hotel in Dublin where they received nomination awards and a cheque for €1,500 each.
