More cup final pain for Timmy Clancy

Trim man Timmy Clancy will miss the Scottish Cup final at Celtic Park tomorrow after rupturing his Achilles tendon in a freak training ground incident.

Clancy had featured for St Johnstone in recent weeks and was expected to play some part in the cup final however he will now miss out.

The 29-year-old is expected to be out of action for at least nine months. He missed last year’s cup when he was with Hibs because of a groin injury.

He also missed out on an chance to appear in the FA Cup final in 2004 when he was with Millwall. He was left out of the match day squad as Millwall were defeated by Manchester United.
