Another trophy for Gary Rogers

Gary Rogers added another medal to his impressive haul since he headed into the west to join Sligo Rovers in 2012 when helped the Connacht side to the Setanta Sports Cup today at Tallaght Stadium in front of a crowd of 2,600.

Rogers made a number of crucial saves at a rain-lashed Tallaght Stadium with Paul O'Connor scoring in the 12th minute.

The Bohermeen man made a superb save in the closing stages when Dundalk's David McMillan attempted a lob, but Rogers got a hand on it to force it away to safety.

"It was a great performance, the conditions were difficult, but we won and that's what finals are all about," commented Rogers in a post-match interview on Setanta Sports TV.

In the Premier League last night trim man david O'Connor was on the bench for Shamrock Rovers as they won 1-0 in Derry. O'Connor has recovered from an injury he sustained in the opening day fixture against Derry at Tallaght Stadium.

In the First Division last night former Johnstown (Navan) and NECSL player Dylan Connolly helped Shelbourne to a 1-0 victory against Waterford at the RSC. The Dublin side sit on top of the table.
