Navan Cosmos issued a serious message of intent about their Meath & District Premier League title aspirations last night with a fantastic 6-3 victory over champions Rock Celtic.
Rock were only decalred champions a few short weeks ago after the Duleek appeal and protest saga, but Cosmos could be the team to fly the flag for the Royal County this season.
David Ward opened the scoring for Rock after just four minutes, but it wasnt enough as his side conceded four goals in the first-half as Cosmos scored through Conor Walsh (two), Philippe Bonique and Lee Duffy.
Ward scored his second for Rock before half-time, but further goals by Gary O'Dowd and Colm Gilsenan kept Cosmos in the ascendancy with Kevin McArdle completing the tally for the home side.
Woodview claimed the points with a convincing 4-2 win over Quay Celtic.
Andrew Duffy opened the scoring with his third goal in as many games, Quay Celtic then took the lead through Simon O'Shaughnessy and Derek Moran before the comeback was on with Keith Finnegan levelling. Mickey O Kane added a third and Ray McCann a fourth for Woodview.
Navan Side Boca Rovers picked up their first win with a 3-1 victory at Blackbull. James Power put the visitors ahead before Neil McEvoy's shot was deflected past his own 'keeper by Daragh Jennings to level.
Stephen Gavin then put Boca ahead from the penalty spot and David Jennings headed Boca's third from a Stephen Gavin Cross.
Fordrew were sent packing when they visited the MSJ in Kingscourt where the hosts scored seven.
Daragh Gunne and Cathal Connolly both grabbed a brace, Stefan McEnteer, Mark McGovern and Darren McCabe completed the tally, Mark Browne scored for Fordrew.
